All The Signs Were There

Mark Foley continues to dominate the news. The investigation of what the GOP leadership knew – and when they knew it – will begin and questions will be answered. The fact that Foley liked guys, however, was probably apparent to anyone willing to look.

First, he was 50-something and single, but generally regarded as a really friendly guy. Surely, he should have been able to find a Mrs. Foley if he were so inclined, right?

Second, Washingtonian magazine last month – in their Best & Worst Of Congress feature – rated him the second best dressed (behind David Dreier) and second funniest (behind Barney Frank). If there is anything Will & Grace taught me it’s that guys who like guys are funny and really snappy dressers.

Why did we miss the signs?
